Just When is Religion a Bad Thing?

Well, let's see...

When it creates a superior class or group of people. Why? Because it therefore makes everyone else inferior. Why is this bad? Because it establishes a position of domination over others. Why is this bad? Because not one of us should be in dominion over others as we all are capable of corruption, abuse, and deceit. Dominion implies scarcity and that means that at some point it is inevitable might well be seen as right.

When it encourages, nay, institutionalizes hate for those who are different.

When it makes heretical thought or consideration of change.

How much more powerful it is to say I choose to act beneficially on my and your behalf than to say some mythological construct I believe in says to-otherwise suffering some to-be-determined penalities.

Ah, the parallels...We'll drop the Bomb and then apologize..or maybe not even! yeah That's right

Duck and Cover

"Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff." from Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Its All About the XY

When abortion and other forms of birth control were not legal there was little to no talk about the health of women or what the unavailability of reproductive control cost our lives. But once it was made legal it was all about the dissolution of families, purported damage to lives of the children and the uppity-ness of women to think they had any say in what goes in or out of their bodies.

Mind you there was no concern for families and the damage to children born to a household already overwhelmed with mouths to feed or the health of the birthing machine and progeny who more frequently die when birth control is not available.

With all the talk about repealing Roe v. Wade, there is another side to this. The Budget is in and due to be passed this week. Thousands of pages long it is a broadside attack on what women need and the state of women in what we mythologize as our democracy.

"'Trimming fat'" is not about cutting excess. Because what's being trimmed is not really 'fat'-it's core."

Follow the Money

It's Springtime for Liberals and Hillary, but no one has quite shaken off their hibernation.

And I ask, why? And why ask why? Well, it seems to be the only question that will get us anywhere.

Why is there no word on the anthrax investigation?
Why is there STILL no ramp up for help to New Orleans? Times-Picayune

Why is there no investigation into the MASSIVE amounts of money siphoned out of Iraq?
Why is there no investigation into all that was said then unsaid and real motives uncovered by documentation into this catastrophic fiasco called Operation Iraqi Freedom?
Why is there a seemingly HUGE number of people who have government posts and elected seats lying on their resumes and why are folks plagarizing? Is original thought or honesty just that difficult? Does not anyone with a fault-ridden document understand that the internet provides a transparency by which these simple facts can be revealed?

Why does 80% of our population who say they are christian, harp on about oppression?
How can 80% of any population, those same folk who seem to run everything anyway, even think they are being oppressed?

I shudder to think our fine fellow citizens might believe voting alone this fall will solve this decline. It will help, it has to. But accountability ignored will only foster malignancy in what is happening now- if not already.

To get to the bottom of the cess pool, we must follow the money to find the answers.

Who would most benefit from the elimination of New Orleans? How would they benefit?
What has Mississippi that New Orleans doesn't have or did not have?
Who prospers from ignoring the loss of billions in Iraq?
Who benefits/prospers from the devolution of Iraq? I used to think it was about the oil, but with oil flow choked to a dribble, who is making big $ and what hold, and on who, do they have that is sufficient to perpetuate this cluster fuck?
