Class Action Suit and Tie Required.

What to my wondering eyes should appear but a Dem with some backbone and acts that brought me to tears.

This week, I was reminded of what the proper response to bad bills (HB 515 The Adoption Ban Bill) should be.

Lampoon.

Ohio State Senator Bobby Hagan submitted a farsical bill. Summarily Hagan's bill would ban Republicans from adopting or foster children in the state of Ohio. His bill cited that "credible research reveals emotional problems, social stigmas, inflated egos, and alarming lack of tolerance for others they deem different than themselves and an air of overconfidence to mask their insecurities" is what results from R's adopting or fostering children.

We need more of this. Lots more. We need Dems and Republicans to stand up and call the onslaught of bigoted bills for what they are. But perhaps what we might need is something more permanent in effect.

I offer that what we need is a class action suit against American Family Association, Focus on the Family, Citizens for Community Values, et al for slander and libel.

If they want to tout biased and scurilous "findings" for true science and base their stance on this house of cards "research" then they need to defend it. In Court. In the press.

As I sit here in contradiction as big as Dallas to all they spew, I want them to provide incontrovertible proof that I do not know who I am and why I am. I dare them.

Like me and my kind, don't like me and my kind, but let it stand at that. Stop lying about me, my brethren and sistren.

You want me, come and get me, but make sure you are armed to the teeth with factual evidence and can prove with a preponderance of credible evidence that withstands time and test.

Meanwhile, realize me and mine are done with you. I am up to here with your slanderous and libelous accusations. It stops here.

Now we return to our regularly scheduled programming. So you don't forget, call before midnight tonight. Activist judges are standing by.

UPDATE 2\27
Apparently it would be best to pursue an antidefamation suit. You say tomato...So long as the end result is the lies stop and the organizations who broadcast them are stopped.

Dick's emails

With 'discovered" emails now touted as damning to Cheney and the outing of Valerie Plame, this begs the question:

What would George do without his Dick?

The Impending Theocracy

So not all Republicans are bad folk. We are being deceived with smoke and mirrors as to what is going on. It is not Republicans against Democrats. We, the people, are chasing the rabbit of diversion while extremists in this country are quickly eroding our democracy to make way for a theocracy.

Rod Parsley of World Harvest Church has started an organization called the Center of Moral Clarity. This organization is to render the US into a theocracy. Their pet politician Ken Blackwell, Secretary of State and candidate for Governor in Ohio, is fast pissing off the Republican party by airing very negative commercials about his opponent, Jim Petro, State's Attorney General, another Republican running for Governor, in Ohio's May primary.

The Republican party in Ohio is worried Blackwell is going to do damage to the party. But Blackwell doesn't care. In a theocracy, which he is also advocating, our current constitutional declaration of a two party system would be null and void. The whole constitution would become obsolete.

There is only one party in a theocracy- the Christocrats. A cleverly coined phrase by Rod Parsley. The Christian Reconstructionists are out to completely reconstruct what America is and was supposed to be. They don't like it, they don't want it and they have alot of money to make sure it goes away. In their minds it's their country. And we who disagree, are not welcome. At all. Period.

Fanning the flames of this devolution are issues around right to choose, definitions of family, protections for race, religious freedom, extensions to help the poor, and the most incendiary of all issues- lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people's existence.

And while we bankrupt ourselves to address the rabbit issues of diversion, the theocracy looms nearby.

We should all be banning together to meet this head on. The Democracy is at stake.

It is not about a bill to ban gay straight alliances in schools. It is not about eliminating a woman's right to choose. It is not about dissolving affirmative action. It is not about welfare deform.

It is about the whole of our nation and all who have lived here and all who do live here.

Christian extremists communities are being built and inhabited- formed on the basis of all residents belonging to a church- not just any church- and following biblical doctrine for law. Fanatical Christians are moving to South Carolina with the backup plan to secede if the US (the rest of the population) does not adhere to what they want in deform and constitutional changes in Christ's name.

Interesting thing about a theocracy. No one is ever right. No one is beyond suspicion. The scope of what is deemed righteous becomes more narrow with each edict.

And what do you suppose is the solution for those who fall out of favor or stand beyond the ever changing pale of the law? Theocrats, though dwindling in the face constant revision of laws, certainly can't have them around. You can't possibly jail everyone.

So what is the final solution to the problem of ever increasing dissenters for those acting under the guise of righteousness?

Dwell on that a while.

oh the irony

I work with youth, specifically gay youth, at a community center. And I can easily say progress is being made. Many of the youth I serve report having a bit easier time of it in school. Though there are, of course still, many and harrowing reports of abuse and harrassment going on- but still some progress is being made.

Therefore, I was gravely conflicted when I heard of a small group of girls in a neighboring high school who were going about the grounds beating up boys who looked at them or their girlfriends wrong or called them names.

Book Club buys fire insurance for members

And from Huffington Post
US rocker and writer Henry Rollins was reported to the National Security hotline during his recent Australian tour because of a book he was reading on flight to Brisbane.

A furious Rollins was informed he was "nominated as a possible threat" for reading Jihad: The Rise Of Militant Islam In Central Asia.

Oh I see where this is going

we're not going to burn books but people who read books

nice.

chemical weaponry

We watch the Holy Grail and we laugh when Arthur, King of the Britons, runs away from the French who lob pots, pans and bits of cow, and I think a whole cow, down on them. "Run Away, run away" they yell. Still the cow falls on poor Patsy and his coconut shells roll away to the side. That he was hit was only due to the fact that as a quasi beast of burden he couldn't move fast enough. Its not like he didn't see it coming.

But we didn't and we still don't and poor Whittington didn't either. Oh perhaps he saw the gun barrel and the sun glinting off Cheney's head, but he didn't see what his relationship with Cheney would cost him.

And neither did alot of Americans.

This blog is about what we let happen because we abdicate knowing. The folks to whom we abdicate are no smarter, certainly no better than the average yokel.

To that end we have allowed the DoD, among other branches of our fine guvmint to test a multitude of noxious and potentially fatal chemicals on many of us. Some with permission, (unbelievable, but true. We can be such a collectively stupid lot) some without. Perhaps that is why teachers are instructed to teach to the middle: a primal understanding that where any two or more are gathered down goes the I.Q. Maybe that, too is why the verse says God is also where any two or more are gathered. Eventually divine intervention will be needed. But I digress...

The BBC is releasing a documentary on "The Hidden History of US germ testing, 'Hotel Anthrax'". Here is the link

Here also is the link to the staff report for the Committee on Veteran's Affairs in 1994. Chairman at the time was John D.Rockefellar (D) West Virginia. It details the several examples where U.S. Government researchers intentionally exposed Americans to potentially dangerous substances without their knowledge or consent.

Both are worth a read.

But what about the Anthrax, you ask?

Well it would seem that according to an article written in 2001, Judith Miller (maybe back when she had journalistic standards) and William J. Broad determined that the U.S had manufactured the Ames strain of powder Anthrax that was identified in the mail here in the States as well as over seas. 15 guvmint institutions were working with the Ames strain. It would seem that fact limits the number of potential folks who worked with it. Wouldn't it be easy to connect some dots and come up with the notion that the anthrax attacks were from someone within? Someone who had guvmint clearance? Oh but calm down. The FBI was investigating the guvmint's own labs and personnel to determine if this was the case. But the stuff did come from guvmint sources.

But no more has been heard about it, now has it?

Doctors should not operate on family members because of conflict.

Lawyers should not represent themselves because of conflict.

AND THE GUVMINT SHOULD NOT INVESTIGATE ITSELF BECAUSE OF CONFLICT.

collosal dUh.

And no, there has not been any known conclusion of the investigation of the 2001 anthrax attacks.

Smoke less and understand more.

this little light of mine

"If anyone believes that gay men can actually become ex-gay men, I have just one question for you: Would you want your daughter to marry one?" Dan Savage 2/2006

This week has been a galvanizing one.

From testifying to the Ohio Senate Education Committee advocating for protection of ALL children in their currently lame anti bullying bill, to getting word Thursday that in the Ohio House ten extremist Representatives lied about LGBT parenting and introduced a bill banning LGBT adoption and anyone from adopting who has an LGBT person living the same household.

Ohio's Representative Hood said this would protect children by placing them in homes where there is a mother and a father. However the bill does not limit single parent adoptions.(plain dealer saturday edition)

WTF

If you don't like something or someone, then fine- leave it at that but don't start heaping lie upon lie to drive your point home. Your bias is unfounded for sure, but the additonal lies just tilt the foundation of your weak argument and soon it will topple. And some have already begun to. See Dobson and Focus on the Family support a poor but gay friendlier bill. Hmmm

The House Speaker for Ohio said this adoption ban bill won't see light. Well three cheers for him and he get's my support on this matter, but the extremists have no compunction against lying, so watch out, Husted, they'll say you lick all the chocolates in a box and all your kind does this and this promotes price tag switching by consumers and this is why we have a trade deficit.

And nothing they say makes any better sense either.

The ten extremists said they would continue to introduce this bill until it sees the light of day. Perhaps they are of the cockroach, scorpion, Cher human/animal cross cloning Bush talked of in the SOTU. They might exist beyond the nuclear winter or the green house summers just to accomplish this one task.

This diatribe has been brought to you by endtimes rhetoric fear mongering lying U.S. Patriot Talibanists who for expediency have curried favor with the weaker of our religious sectarians to catapult the propaganda so they can accomplish what they want which, I think, is short term gain at all costs.

This is an experiment to see how far they can carry their ideals. Wrong or right, it matters not to them. In a vacuous state, they are merely enthralled with seeing how far they can push this message. The message that they are right and the they in those who are right is a small group of maybe 100 folks merely wanting to expend everything for the test. It doesn't have to make sense. All they seem to want is to see if they can shove any message and then make us believe it.

Natural Law bedamned. Machiavelli is God and everything we thought America was about is merely a obsolete myth.

Unless we say no.

And act

And make folks accountable.

The integrity of the constitution has been breached violently. But we the rowdy the unruly masses that make up America and push for progress can actually stem the destruction. We can repair it. It will be stronger and better for it. But we've not much time.

Fear has sedated us into complacency and apathy. The promoters of the fear are vulnerable now, mistakes are being made. We have a window of opportunity. There still are some rights left with which we can make our voices and presence known.

I attended a meeting of 5 Ohio Democrat state Representatives (republicans were invited too, but declined to attend) what they needed from me/us. They said they get several pieces of mail month from extremists and next to nothing from us.

They want and need to hear from us. They yearn to hear from us. Those who are supportive need to hear from us frequently. The more often they do, the more certainly they will represent us accurately.

But we also need to cultivate relationships with those who oppose us. To them we should not seem silent and interpreted as defeated or inconsequential. We can be a force to be reckoned with, giving those who oppose us pause when they want to pass legislation that impinges on civil liberties. To those who support us and those we support, legislation making the trouncing of civil liberties even more difficult can be created and passed.

But only if we snap out of our fear induced coma and call, write, email, and read read read.

Many reasons we find to not get involved when really we only need one reason to get involved.

Find that reason and find it soon.

We really shouldn't wait any longer.

And another country heard from

Welcome to my blog. The intent here is to shine light on those issues that fall off the radar or never even blip on the screen. The investigation into the anthrax scare being only one of the myriad of curious incidents which, one would think, would receive lots of continued attention.

This blog will also reflect on lgbt issues, civil liberties and rabble rousing of a high and low calibre. Occassionally it might also include silly things like recipes, how-to, and general peeves of the day.

I am a Georgia US born gal who lived mostly in Texas then a few marvelous years spent in New Mexico, but I now find myself living in Ohio-the blue part of Ohio, thank you- and this provokes me into blogging.

Please feel free to kibbitz and send your questions, comments and concerns right here.

We aims to please, but sometimes miss on purpose.

Speaking of aiming and calibre...Cheney- anyone wish the quail he aimed for had been named Dan? Not sure why we are surprised it took so long for this to come to light. Seldom are friendly fire incidences reported by our military.

Till later,

Mika
